Jennifer, a homeschool mamma

Jennifer is the owner of Homeschool mamma.com. She begins to resell my products in her store. I'd like to introduce her:

We would like to provide a service that will help other homeschool families enjoy the homeschool environment, by cutting the planning time in half. More time teaching and more family time, this will help reduce some stress and increase smiling faces. To get connected to more of these great resources please visithttp://www.homeschoolmamma.com/

She also shared a great article about Selective Mutism.

I have a 6 year old daughter who has been diagnosed as selective mutism from the public school system.  It’s also known as elective mutism, in other words my child will speak at home, any where she feels comfortable,  and if she isn’t, she won’t speak. This is usually detected in the early years, but we’ve never had a problem with her not speaking until two years ago when she began skills camp at our church.

Often times, I’ve seen that mental disorders are more common, I have an issue with labels because they are quick to use medications. So, this makes it difficult for proper treatments. As I don’t like medications. I’ve learned as much as possible and utilize these resources in my home where she is the most comfortable. Then we do try a new activities and new environments, she’s willing to try all of our adventures. So, it’s not like I just pick the new adventure, and toss her in there to defend for herself.

We did do the treatments with psychiatrists, but all they were telling me what they observed, what-ifs, and what others have done. We just felt like our daughter was another statistic to them. They didn’t like the idea of homeschooling either, but we went against every opinion given and made the choice to homeschool. Our daughter was in public school for a full year and not once did she make any progress. Throughout the year, her teacher told us she didn’t know her letters, numbers, or reading, and yet we see differently. Sure home is her comfort zone, but really I just felt a full year was wasted.

Of course the internet has everything for a parent these days. Just because a person has a college degree doesn’t make them more qualified than a parent. Now, I’m not saying they don’t know much, I’m saying if it’s not in the text, then It’s just a guess answer. Whereas, a parent knows from first hand. I knew I had my work cut out for me when I made the decision to homeschool my daughter, but as any other mother we had our work cut out for us once I found out we were pregnant. Once the pregnancy is confirmed, I was ready because one she was my fourth child and a blessing from God. Through God, nothing is impossible.
